Kinabatangan River, Sandakan, Sabah, East Malaysia Trip
Kinabatangan River is the longest river in Sabah. It is known for its remarkable wildlife and fascinating habitats such as limestone caves at Gomantong hill, dryland dipterocarp forests, riverine forest, freshwater swamp forest, oxbow lakes and salty mangrove swamps.
We spent 4D3N at Barefoot Sukau Lodge. Visit http://www.barefootsukau.com/ for more details. They offers boat trips along the river to spot wildlife. We encountered many owls, kingfishers, proboscis monkeys, orangutans, pig-tailed macaques, long-tailed macaques, otters and many more. We also arranged a day trip to Gomantong Caves where we encountered the endemic Red Leaf Monkeys.
